As many of you already know, Karuna Vihara sets aside a portion of our proceeds to help support a number of different grassroots organizations involved in food security initiatives worldwide. Most recently we've connected with Sadhana Forest, who's permaculture and ecological restoration projects can be found in India, Haiti and most recently in Kenya. The Kenya project is focussing on growing sustainably-managed food forests for about 4000 people belonging to the Samburu tribe. Previous attempts by foreign aid organizations have failed to address widespread food insecurity and malnutrition in this area and so Sadhana Forest has created a long-term project to restore the natural environment and grow/develop a healthy food forest ecosystem. Here's a link if you'd like to learn more:
Thanks for enjoying our food and supporting Karuna Vihara, we're grateful to be able to contribute towards projects like these where people are doing some really great work. :)

Dear friends, we are happy to present to you our new online store! This will allow for an easy online shopping experience for all our customers, Canada-wide. It will also be a place for us to share any news, to highlight some great food-related non-profit organizations, and to offer little tips and cooking ideas for you to dabble with.
We really wanted to get things up and running, so there's not a whole lot of content yet, but we're open for business and please stay tuned for more...
The Karuna Vihara team :)
